Branchipus schaefferi is a very rare European faience crayfish. He also occurs in Germany, in this country Branchipus schaefferi is very rare. Branchipus schaefferi females have a bright breeding bag. Often it is bluish in color, but it can also contain yellows and reds. The female attracts attention with it birds and other predators. When eaten, the cysts survive the journey through the predator’s intestine and are thus eliminated in new locations. In this way, the distribution of Branchipus schaefferi takes place. This species lays permanently and immediately sloughable eggs, so that a sustained attitude in the aquarium is possible.
