This Spanish Triops needs rather warm temperatures, which is why a heater is needed in winter. Despite the warmer temperatures and rapid growth, this Triops can grow very old. Triops Mauritancius was initially described as a subspecies of Triops Cancriformis (because of its similar appearance). In the meantime, however, it is a separate species.
In addition, Triops Mauritancius are the only Triops species to have a special feature, and these form with increasing age, two thorns at the end of the Furca quasi left and right, which makes this species very special. So far, this species is very rarely offered in the trade, since it has few occurrences in nature.
